How can I make computer games run better on my pc?

A few months ago I bought a brand new dell, and games have always run pretty crappy on this computer, and I just bought Call of Duty 5 and it runs awful. Everything is going in slow motion and it takes a minute to move the mouse across the screen. How can I adjust my computer to make it run games better?

Most of those out of the box PC’s are full of crap hardware they use cheaper motherboards memory and cpu’s slower hard drives not to mention most of them use on board video & sound you need to do some upgrading I never suggest out of the box Pc’s for gaming you should always go to a local shop and they will be able to suggest hardware. Pc’s like Dell and Hp are more for basic home use unless you can specify your needs. That is why they are most of the time cheaper.
